Bellingham Co Housing

In July of 2005 I was introduced to the Bellingham Cohousing.  My friend Stormy told me there was a condo being sold there and she felt it might be just right for me.  After renting for 3 years at Rob's house (see here)  I thought it might be time to look at settling down.  I jumped on my bike and rode 19 blocks up Donovan Ave to see what would be my new home.  As I entered the complex I met Janet Taylor and she showed me around.  First we saw the building that housed the fully equiped woodshop. Then we walked past the community garden and hot tub, through a nicely landscaped area to the Common House.  The original farmhouse had been renovated and given a large addition which included a beautiful kitchen with a 60 person dining room.  The common house also contains a laundry, 2 guest rooms, a kids play room, tv meeting room and a fireplace room.  What a fine set up!  I really liked what I saw and started to learn about the "intentional community" which was 5 years old at the time (actually 10 years as there was a 5 year planning stage).  I saw the condominium for sale, like mama bear's bed it was Just Right.  So after negotiating with Mary Le Barge, a very bright pleasant woman who helped start the community and now was moving to be with her daughter in Seattle, I bought what I'm finding to be a little slice of heaven.  The community is like my living space, Just Right.  I'm finding the members to be very accepting and friendly.  Within the last 6 months I feel very much at home.
